An essential component of SCDAI's multi-phased work is in the area of funding medical research to increase knowledge and information about the treatment, care and hopefully, one day - the ultimate cure of sickle cell disease.

Working hand-in-hand with the medical community and researchers, SCDAI through the years has consistently contributed thousands of dollars for research projects designed to increase knowledge about sickle cell disease.

Grants are made to hospitals, medical institutions and other health care organizations whose projects include clinical studies and basic research on sickle cell disease.
